a worthwhile, albeit flawed read for any twin peaks fan.

i am so happy this book was written by a woman, as laura palmer is such a young and complex character that most male writers would glorify the trauma laura routinely experiences. however, jennifer lynch just isn’t her father. jennifer’s vision of twin peaks lacks the weird, nostalgia-inducing charm of the series. in addition to this, characters seem to be caricatures or themselves. ultimately, the secret diary of laura palmer reads like an out-of-character fanfiction and fire walk with me is the preferable sequel.
