Hi, everyone!

Since you’re reading this, you already know, but Books + Brie is starting a blog!

As the semester is winding down, I have been thinking about my plans for this summer.  Naturally, that has lead me to reflect on last summer. About this time last year, Books + Brie was just getting started.  Honestly, I’m surprised that I have kept up with it for so long!

Since June 2018, Books + Brie has done so much.  I’ve created a website, an online shop, made friends and even started a podcast, all thanks to Books + Brie.

It’s time for Books + Brie to expand even more.

Finally introducing…

Books + Brie in some ways is already a community, similar to an online book club, but I want to foster that feeling even more.  My plan is to post approximately once a week on here, and eventually, have contributors posting as well. Like Books + Brie’s Instagram, this blog is going to be about more than just books—it’ll be about the intersection between literature, art and food.

So, if you’re going to read my blog weekly, you should probably know a bit about me.  I haven’t really revealed much about myself on Books + Brie before, so here’s ten fun facts about me.

1. My name’s Milly, and I’m a freshman journalism and film major in Philadelphia.

2. I’m from the Richmond, Virginia area.  If you drive ten minutes away from my house, you will be surrounded by farms.  If you drive ten minutes away from my house in the opposite direction, you will be in the city.

3. My all-time favourite books are Pride & Prejudice and Wuthering Heights (I know, I know the most basic books in the world—but they’re classics for a reason!).

4. Pride & Prejudice (2005) is the superior adaptation.

5. I relate a little too much to Bridget Jones.

6. My dream job is to travel around the world and make documentaries for VICE.

7. I listen to an array of music, from Kacey Musgraves, to Fleetwood Mac, to The Smiths, to Maggie Rogers.

8. My dog, Agent Dale Cooper (named after the Twin Peaks character), is the love of my life.

9. When I was young, I dreamed of being an FBI agent.  I also genuinely believed that my 10-year old self would solve the Zodiac case.

10. In addition to reading and writing, I love graphic design.
