sunflower in the morning

(As I'm writing this, I'm listening to 'sunflower' by Vampire Weekend—very fitting! And the inspiration behind this post's title).
Last weekend, some family friends and I jumped in the car, and went to a sunflower farm in Chesterfield.
Fresh Branch Farm is home to a wide field of sunflowers, some chickens and goats, and naturally-grown produce.

Prior to this trip, I had never picked sunflowers before.
I was shocked by how many creatures were lurking in the field. However, now thinking about it, the fact that there were many bees and crickets is not shocking.
Thankfully, nobody was stung by any bees! I'm allergic, so it wouldn't have been a good look for all the photos we took.

The first thing I saw while entering the farm was a group of teenagers having a mini photoshoot with their freshly picked flowers.
Before I continue, I want to clarify that I am not one of those people who criticises teenagers, especially teenage girls, just for having fun.
Everyone around us, including the group I came with, was taking tons of photos. How could you not, when surrounded by such beauty?
However, I felt slightly guilty. While creating new paths via trampling sunflowers, I remembered all the articles about Instagram influencers destroying sunflower fields, just like this one.

Afterwards, I came home and enjoyed some Jane Austen outside—next to my freshly picked sunflowers, of course.
